Adult Choir… is open to men and women of high school age and above. They sing at the 10:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday on the first three weekends of the month, and at the 5:30 p.m. Mass on Saturday on the fourth weekend of the month as well as at all major feasts and celebrations. Besides hymnody, the Adult Music Ministry members sing anthems and motets of all styles, periods and genre.
This year the choir will be looking forward to a pilgrimage to Rome, Vatican City, Florence, and Assisi with choirs from Immaculate Conception, Montclair and Saint Peter the Apostle, Parsippany. Choristers and Pilgrims are welcome to join the tour February 17 - 24, 2011.

The Lazarus Choir… is open to all singers who are available in the morning. The purpose of the Lazarus Choir is to support the congregational singing at Funeral Liturgies, which are generally at 9:15 or 10:30 weekday mornings. The music is taken primarily from the parish repertoire. The members of the Lazarus Choir are not expected to sing at every funeral liturgy, only those for which they are available. The Lazarus Choir joins with the other Ministers of Music on major feasts and celebrations.

High School Youth Choir… offers High School vocal and instrumental musicians a unique opportunity to be involved in worship. Prior choral experience is not required. What is required is a willingness to work as a team, an eagerness to learn and a commitment to rehearsals, the ensemble, and liturgies.
The Youth Choir is invited to join with the Adult Choir in their 2011 pilgrimage to Rome.

Music Opportunities for Children
The Cherub Choir... is a beginning choral experience for children in Kindergarten through grade 3. The Cherubs sing on Christmas Day, Good Friday and Easter Sunday as well as other times during the year.

Third Grade Choir... A new choir in this 2010 - 2011 choir year. The Third Grade Choir is open to boys and girls who, in the past year have received their First Holy Communion. The children will continue to deepen their understanding and love of the Church's Liturgy. The boys and girls will participate in weekly rehearsals and sing as a choir with the Choristers and Cherub Choir on Christmas Day, Good Friday and Easter Sunday as well as one liturgy in early February of 2011. The boys and girls will join the Choristers in the Fall of 2011.

The Choristers... are made up of boys and girls in 4th through 8th grades. The Choristers sing on the third or fourth Sunday of the month at the 12:00 noon Sunday Mass. In addition to their ministry at St. James, this year, the children will take part in two choral festivals, one at our Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark, and the other at St. Paul the Apostle in New York City, which are all day events including Children and Youth Choirs from the tri-state region.
