Worship and Liturgy

MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION: This group of men and women distribute Communion at Weekend, Weekday and Funeral Masses, as well as bring Communion to those who are unable to attend Mass because of illness or advanced age.

LECTORS: This group of men and women proclaim the Word of God at Weekend and Weekday liturgies. They participate in parish and archdiocesan workshops to maintain proper skills and qualities needed for the proclamation of the Word while continuing to grow in their spiritual life.

ALTAR SERVERS: This group of grammar and middle school girls and boys (Grades 3 through 8) serve the parish community in its liturgical prayer. They serve at Sunday and Holy Day Masses as well as other sacramental celebrations. A parish team provides training and scheduling.

MUSIC MINISTRY: There are many choirs that serve the assembly’s song. Within Music Ministry there are five choirs: the Adult Choir, the Lazarus Choir, the Youth Choir, the Choristers and the Cherub Choir.

MINISTERS OF HOSPITALITY (USHERS): primary responsibility of welcoming parishioners to the Liturgy, these men and women also take responsibility for the physical preparation of the place of worship, take up collections and attend to emergencies as they arise.

SACRISTANS: This dedicated group of volunteers care for the House of the Lord and see to it that our Church is welcoming, clean, and beautiful. Many hands make the job easy on weekdays as well as weekends.

LITURGY COMMITTEE: This group of men and women have an ongoing responsibility of preparing seasonal and special parish liturgical celebrations and being educated in the Liturgical Documents of the Church.

FUNERALS: At a time, which is generally sad and emotional for the family and friends of the deceased, the parish is ready to assist in any way possible. Arrangements, including details of time, music and reading selections are made through the Parish Office with the Pastoral Staff. Funeral Masses are not celebrated on Sunday, Holy Days or during the Triduum of Holy Week. Information regarding Memorial Gifts in memory of loved ones can be obtained from any parish office.

WEDDINGS: These arrangements are made with a priest or deacon preferably a year before the desired wedding date. It is after this time that a date and time can be set. These arrangements need to be made prior to making reception plans.

BAPTISMS: Communal Baptisms are held on the last Sunday of the month at 1:30pm (except during the Lenten Season). They can also be held at scheduled Masses on the weekend. Parents and Godparents are asked to attend a Preparation Seminar either before or after the arrival of your baby. Please contact the parish office for further information.
