Education and Formation

ADULT CONFIRMATION: Adults (18 and older) who have not yet celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation are prepared over a period of one year. This preparation time gives them the opportunity to “see” their faith from an adult perspective and helps them to make the decision to complete their initiation into the Church.

ADULT FAITH FORMATION: Opportunities are provided for parishioners and members of the wider community to deepen their understanding of their faith through retreats, seminars, bible study, missions and guest lecture series conducted during the year advertised through the parish bulletin and website.

BAPTISM PREPARATION: Baptism is a special time in the faith life of parents and families. Therefore, the Church asks that parents and Godparents be prepared for the commitment they are making on behalf of their children. Team members meet with couples to guide them as each child begins their journey of faith.

HOME SCHOOL ASSOCIATION: This group of dedicated parents works with the School Administration to promote a positive learning environment helping parents and teachers acquire a profound appreciation for the ideals of Catholic education.

PRE-CANA: The marriage policy for the Dioceses of New Jersey states that an engaged couple meets with a parish priest or deacon over a year long period to prepare for the Sacrament. As part of this process, we sponsor Pre-Cana Workshops. These days are facilitated by team couples who lead discussions in the areas of Communication, Lifestyles, Spirituality and Sexuality.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION: Our main focus is to teach the children of our parish community about our Catholic faith. Our desire is to develop a true partnership between our catechists (teachers and staff) and parents. Therefore, our wish is to work along with you to nurture our children so they may develop: a relationship with Jesus , a life of prayer, and a life of service for others.

R.C.I.A. : The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the Church’s way for non-Catholics, and for Catholic adults who have not yet received Eucharist and Confirmation to prepare for the reception of these sacraments. The RCIA is a process of faith that involves the witness and support from our parish community. Sponsors participate in the ministry by serving as companions, guides and witnesses.
