July 2010
Dear Parents & Guardians,
The preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist are a very special time in a child’s life. Here at Saint James, we believe that too and look forward to sharing this experience with you and your family. We believe that the family also shares responsibility for preparing children for these Sacraments along with the teachers, clergy and parish community; and I look forward to taking this journey with you.
As the primary teacher of your child, one of the most important responsibilities you have is to ensure that your child attends Mass, class and completes the supplemental workbooks which are distributed during the year.
The Registration Form and First Eucharist Mass Schedule are attached. Please return the completed form by October 1, 2010. Masses will be scheduled on a first-response basis with a maximum of 14 children per Mass. Please be sure to include your first and second Mass choice. You will receive confirmation at the First Reconciliation Parent Information Meeting as to which Mass you are scheduled.
Below is an outline of the preparation process and dates you will be required to attend:
First Reconciliation Parent Information Meeting: Thursday, November 11, 2010 from 7:00PM - 8: 00PM, in Saint James Church. It is mandatory that at least one parent or guardian attend. Children do not attend this meeting.
Families will present their child for the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at one of the Reconciliation Prayer Services. At the Reconciliation Parent meeting you will have the opportunity to select the Prayer Service that is most convenient for your family.
First Eucharist Family Retreat: Saturday, March 5, 2011 from 8:30AM- 12:00 Noon. It is mandatory that at least one parent or guardian attend with the First Eucharist Candidate.
Most Holy Body & Blood: Sunday, June 26, 2011 12:00PM Mass: All children receiving the Sacrament of First Holy Communion are required to attend Mass and participate in the Procession wearing their Communion attire.
There is an additional fee of $60 for the Sacramental Program which includes the cost of the workbooks for Reconciliation and First Eucharist, the family retreat and the day of the Sacrament. The parish requires a copy of your child’s Baptismal Certificate regardless of Baptismal Parish. Please complete the Eucharist Choice form (see link below) and return them with payment by October 1, 2010.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
